We put this website together for one purpose - to make your life easier.
Students sometimes feel overwhelmed when they first become involved in undergraduate research. And for a good reason - getting involved in a lab can be daunting.
The good news is that any undergraduate who is willing to work hard can succeed in research. We're hoping that you'll be able to use the resources we've compiled to assess what you know, and fill in any gaps. Since new students are coming from various biology backgrounds, we've included sources which cover the basics as well as more in-depth concepts (which will be useful later on). If a resource is listed in red, we strongly recommend you check it out. If you've taken BCH4024 and molecular genetics, you probably know most of what we've included here.
Keep in mind that you are NOT REQUIRED to use this site. This is unofficial and 100% optional - we put this together to serve as a guide for new students in the years to come, and we're hoping this will make it easier for new students to land on their feet with the foundation in the biology/biochemistry necessary to understand their research projects. Most students figure things out on their own regardless of their background, but we're hoping this will make everything easier given the online format of Fall 2020.
